commits a crime during the giants victory celebration. city attorney and george gascon held a press conference this amp. they say anyone caught breaking the law or causing damage will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law with the mayhem that followed the giants win on sunday. city leaders say that vandals may be forced to pay for damages. we have new video into our news room tonight of people breaking the windows out of a bus and stetting it on fire. the video showing you here was by a viewer who says he was at the corner of third and market sunday night. the cell phone camera recorded you can see someone hit the front window of that bus with a barricade, then someone, possibly several peerjs actually set the bus on fire. police say they're aware of video and pictures circulating on social media and are using them to help identify suspects. when vandals set fire after the world series win on sunday night they ruaned larry moore's shoe shine stand at market

street where he's been earning a living now for six years. >> my heart was broke because all the hard work and effort i put into it. i just don't understand why people want to go around tearing up people's personal property. the fire destroyed a queen $300 worth of supplies and damage the remaining seat. strangers are aufrg money. design firm has offered to rebuild the stand free of charge. now to martinez where officials have partially closed jail following the death of inmate this afternoon. we just got this video into our news room from outside the jail there on ward street. it houses nearly 700 inmates. a spokesman since the facility's intake area is close and had no more inmate social security being accepted. so far officials not giving us any specifics about the circumstances of the inmates death. for the second time in a week a shark has attacked a surfer off the california coast. today's attack happened off

county coast at bunker surf spot in eureka not far from the airport there. this is a photo of the surfer's board and you can clearly see a large bight was taken out. witnesses say the 25-year-old man was bleeding profusely but made it out of the water by himself. he had at least four 12-inch gashes on his midsection and hip. remember it was one week ago today that a 39-year-old surfer died after he was attacked by sharks off the santa barbara coast. a san francisco neighborhood has been put on alert after a series of encounters with aggressive ra coons. reporting the run ins with ra coons. most happen after dark but early one morning a baby ra coon fell out of a tree and its mother scratched a woman's dog. now, the department has put up warning signs, ordered ra coon resistant garbage cans and asked the woman who has been feegd wild animals in the park to stop. up next a live report from the jersey shore on the dire situation there. what's being done to help areas

. new york city transit officials say they don't know when the city's subway system will be back in action. it could take as long as four days just to pump the water out of lines in lower manhattan. that's before equipment damaged by corrosive salt water is either fixed or replaced. continuing coverage of that superstorm rolling through the eastern united states and the after math. the eye of sandy made land fall yesterday right at atlantic city, new jersey, one of the hardest-hit states. craig, tell us first about the

swieth right where you are. >> gasia, good evening. we're in new jersey right outside of atlantic city. the roads going into atlantic city are closed still tonight. the state police are blocking the roads. families that come by want to go back into atlantic city to check out for homes being turned around, told to come back tomorrow. that's not signature well with some people who want to just know what they're going to be going home to. they have no idea how much damage if they have damage or if there is a home there. one gentleman, in fact, can't get back to his home, can't get a hotel because the casinos you see behind me have booked most of the hotel rooms. he actually rented a hundred-haul trucks and sleeping in his truck until he can get back into his home hopefully some time tomorrow. there's some 2.5 million people around the state without power, about 80,000 just in this general area, gasia, and the temperature is really dropping tonight getting very very cold. >> craig, we've heard a lot about the bigger citys and how

they're doing but tell me about some of the small town yous eve been through, those towns that don't have a lot to begin w how are they doing. >> just like everyone else, they're going back and their eyes will open wide. good news or bad news. the home is still there, no problem, or they go back and the home has been swept away. out in the barrier islands, people can't get out there yet, but other -- other places, seaside hieths, people are going back and there's just piles of sand literally hundreds of yards away where high-tide water mark would normally be so they're dealing with that. there's still actually some search and rescue ongoing this evening in some of those smaller towns. >> craig, we've already seen lawmakers touring the damage. is there talk about actual relief headed that way. >> yeah. certainly is. governor christy -- chris christy was out for four and a half hours today touring the damage. he'll tour tomorrow with president obama. the wheels are turning for that relief but they're going to have to turn a little faster and they're going to have to get through some other things first. they've got to get everything going, get families to their

word tonight apple's head of software development is leaving because he refuses to sign an apology. scott forsaw is expected to step down next year. the wall street journal says forsaw was asked to join the apology for the flaws within the mapping application. source saying it's only the latest clash between four stall and other top apple executives. los vegas police are thanking the public tonight for helping to catch a southern california man they say stole one and a half million dollars in casino chips. police say media attention last week generated the tip that led to the arrest. coal allegedly stole the chips from ve neegs on october 10th. they arrested coal near his mother's home in southern california and have recovered about $400,000 worth of chips. a dispute over a campaign sign, several of them, escalated into a confrontation possibly involving a knife today. at the very center, a candidate's husband. as robert honda reports, it was

. a small group of protesters took it all off today to protest proposed ban on nudity in san francisco. supervisors scott drafted the

fog at the coast tomorrow morning we're going to wake up with the low clouds and fog once again but now it is 4:00 in the afternoon already light rain showing up over the north baby 6:00. 7:00 it's sliding south of the golden gate, south of i-80 into the east baby about 9:00 or so looks like the light rain pretty widespread. it is a light rain event but still enough to get us wet for sure. san jose, you may remain dry into the evening hours. thursday morning we're going to wake up and we could have a few lingering showers for the morning drive. in the overnight hours as we get up tomorrow morning wide spreed low #50s in the forecast once again. the low clouds will be with us. if you're going to the giants parade for tomorrow, mostly cloudy near 50 degrees. it's going to be a cool day. temperatures in the afternoon tofrm mid to upper 60s so a little cooler than what we felt this afternoon. into the south bay 67 for san jose, partly to mostly cloudy skies for most of the day, 67 san mateo, 64 in san francisco. again, the evening showers will

arrive north bay first and then sliding south over the course of the evening. could see anywhere from half inch to an inch over the north bay, anywhere from a quarter inch to three quarters over parts of central bay and less than that for the south bay. thursday morning a few showers drying out by the second half of the day. friday is dry and the weekend still looking good, mild to warm weather inland areas mostly sunny skies mid to upper 70s for saturday and sunday, 60s at the coast. >> thank you, rosemary. giants out fielders helped the fast food restaurant in redwood city make good on a festive day. as a publicity stunt, taco bell offered the public a free taco for every stolen base during the world series. made the only steal in the series and said he was happy to help out hand tacos and meet with the hundreds of fans who turned out to see him. now, the deal was good today only at any taco bell anywhere in the nation between 2:00 and 6:00 p.m.. thank you for trusting ktvu channel 2 news. we'll see you the next time news
